Video card fan is going out.

Post by Burdman »

Hey my video card fan is going out. after playing a while on cs my monitor frezzes up and shuts down. My card is making a noise which is consistent with what my last fan that went out made. I got windows xp, AMD XP 3200 with a 2.19 ghz processor and 2.0 Gb of RAM. I saw a video card on tiger direct. Let me know if you think I should get it or if you have any better ideas.

Nevermind about that card. My computer is a PCI bus. What about these two. Which is better and do I really need the 1gb or would 512 be fine.

The 9400 is one of the better PCI cards available. I have an integrated one in one of my computers and it works pretty well.

Are you sure it's only PCI though? Judging by its age, it should at least have an AGP slot. But it seems like it would have a PCIe slot.

I will open it up and take a look at it. But when I looked at the device in the hardware section said the video card was located in the pci bus slot.

I got it from Ibuypower.com and I don't remember what the make a model was.

Easy you are right it is a AGP. I found this AGP is it a good one. I like it cause it has a HDMI output but would my computer be able to play apple.com movies in HD or do I need a better processor. My processor info is at the top of this thread.

I would probably go with either this one:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=2234

Or this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814161308

The top one is only $5 more, and worth the extra money. However that's after a mail in rebate. So if you're willing to pay the extra $30 up front and send in the rebate, go for it.
