I'm looking to build (pay my friend to build me) a computer. Just a motherboard, I'll just connect it to my tv instead of buying a monitor too. Any ideas what parts I should get to be able to build a decent gaming computer for like 400-550?

make sure you put a special hole in the back so you can rape your computer when it messes up

More details please.
What type of inputs do you have on your TV? Is it an HDTV?
Do you want something small and/or quiet?
What games do you play besides CS?
Why are you so gay?

That looks to be right around your price range and will run through HDMI. It's more than enough to get great FPS in CS:S at whatever resolution your TV supports, 1080p or 720p. The only other things you might need are a power supply and case if you can't reuse them from your current computer.
I'm sure I could cut some cost somewhere in there if you want to squeeze every last dollar out of this.
Is this going to just be used for CS:S? I'm assuming you'll be doing some web surfing and since it's hooked up to your TV, video playback. This will be fine for that too.

If you can't reuse what you have now, these should be cheap enough without risking overheating or lacking power.

If you're planning on playing blurays with this thing, I'd stick with the original CPU Easy picked. I have an AMD very similar to his cheaper one, and it just doesn't cut it.

Hahaa, I'm sure I'll probably use it to play some things, but I have a laptop now, so I have nothing for this new computer. Blurays, ehh maybe.

Ok, so if you plan on using it for other things you should probably say more than "no other games."
I'm happy to help, but you need to provide the details so that we can make sure it will definitely do what you want.
It shouldn't be this difficult...

Okay. To clear everything up.
I'm looking to use this computer for gaming only (CS:S)
No video playback, or other games. If the time comes when I play other games, I will upgrade and what not. Yes it is hooked up to my tv, but only because I don't have a real computer monitor lol. I have nothing to salvage from an old computer because, I don't have one. It isn't difficult, it's just confusing because other people have thrown in other uses for my computer lol. Thanks Easy and Eclipse. (and end. lol)

Ok, got it now.

The power supply in that case may not be great, as in I'm not exactly sure how long it will last, but it should be enough to power everything that I've recommended.
It should also still be around your price range.
If you need to shave some more money off of it, let me know. You shouldn't have any trouble playing CS with a little bit less RAM, a smaller hard drive, or a different video card. But, what you have in there now gives you a decent amount of headroom.
