Cable Killers?

I have a question my ßffs. I want to get rid of my cable, because it's a ridiculous amount of money, but I want to be able to wach some television shows, especially because my mom wants her shows. I'm looking at getting a Boxee or Roku, but I don't want a complimentary thing to cable. I want a replacement. Should I just get Roku and subscribe to Hulu Plus? What do you all use for cable?
